Wildflowers abound throughout El Morro National Monument.

NPS Photo Dale Dombrowski

El Morro is home to a variety of plant communities from woodlands of Gambel oak, ponderosa and pinion pines, and three species of junipers, to sprawling shortgrass prairies. The monument also is home to an array of wildflowers that bloom all through the spring, summer and fall. Around the pond at the base of El Morro you can even find cattails!
