Ebey's Landing NHR enjoys a mild maritime climate, with cool summers and mild winters. Summer highs may reach the 80's, but evenings can always cool. Layers of clothing, including a sweater, are recommended for changing conditions that include wind and rain. A pair of sturdy walking shoes is also advised.

Did You Know?
The prairies, with their rich soil, were the first areas of the Reserve to be farmed, first by Native Americans, and later, by European-american settlers who moved onto the lands. The pioneers cleared the higher ground and tried to farm it, but found the soils poor and allowed the forests to return.
