Welcome to Death Valley National Park!

We are commited to continually improving the accessibiilty within Death Valley's trails and facilities so that everyone can enjoy all the desert has to offer. If you have questions or suggestions about accessibility please email us at DEVA_Information@nps.gov, or call us at (760) 786-3200.

Many facilities in Death Valley National Park were built prior to current accessibility standards. Many facilities described on our park's Accessibility page are negotiable, but may not fully meet federal standards.

General Conditions

Please be aware that the temperatures, weather, altitude, traffic, construction and road conditions in Death Valley may vary and change depending on the time of year. Before your visit, we suggest you check out out park's road conditions and alerts page, the National Weather Service's forecast for the area of the park you plan to visit, and/or contact our team for current updates via email or phone.

Death Valley and its various 3.4million acres of land throughout can experience a wide range of temperatures, weather and altitude. Average temperatures throughout the year can range from 68 F/ 20 C - 99 F/ 37 C with temperatures much hotter in the summer months.

Light showers, snow fall, monsoonal storms, wind/dust storms (up to 50 mph/ 80 kmh) may occur depending on the time of year. The enviornment is also extremely dry.

In addition, altitude throughout the park and along the main roads can drastically change from -127 ft/ -39 km below sea level to 5,000 ft/ 1,829 km in elevation.
 

Cellular Signal and Wi-Fi

Cellular signal and Wi-Fi capabilities in the park are weak. At times, limited cell service can be found near The Ranch hotel and Stovepipe Wells Village. Some of the restaurants and hotels within the park offer Wi-Fi for an hourly price.

Please keep this in mind if you use any Wi-Fi enabled medical devices.

Medical Assistance

If it is an emergency and you have cell signal, call 911. Death Valley has its own EMT first responders.
