October 10, 2023 Update

October 10, 2023 Posted by: Katie Karnes

The contractor has completed the final blast of the season and the expanded closure for public safety during blasting activities was reopened last week. The Pretty Rocks Project Area closure is still in place around the construction zone and will remain in place for the length of the project. See the map at the bottom of the Denali Current Conditions page for more information about active closures.

The delivery of the concrete foundation blocks from Anchorage to the park is wrapping up this week. A micropile test program on the east side of the slide is also being completed this week and will conclude the construction activities for the 2023 season.

Demobilization and shutdown activities are beginning this week as the contractor prepares to move out of the park for the winter. This will involve moving equipment from the construction site to winter storage locations and shutting down facilities in the worker's camp. Watch for oversize loads along the Park Road as equipment is transported.
