Volunteer

Public support is a critical component in the management of National Park Service lands. No other federal agency relies as heavily on the generosity and kindness of its visitors. We thank you for your past support and look forward to future partnerships.

Colorado National Monument has many volunteer and internship opportunities available all year round. Each volunteer position has its own set of duties. Training will be provided. Volunteers may help in one or more of the following tasks:

  • assist with special events
  • staff park visitor centers
  • provide educational information on the parks' natural and cultural resources
  • assist with education programs
  • hike park trails
  • adopt overlooks
  • build and maintain trails
  • host campgrounds
  • east entrance patrol host
  • participate in field studies on plants or animals
  • organize and maintain park library
  • organize and maintain park photo inventory
  • assist with office and clerical duties
  • weed/invasive species control
  • service projects

Did You Know?
The common raven displays abilities to play and problem solve rare among animals. This member of the crow family is also very vocal, using a variety of sounds for communication. Perhaps because of these qualities, ravens have achieved a certain stature in both European and American Indian folklore.
