    Smoking is prohibited except within an enclosed vehicle. Charcoal fires are permitted only in provided grills in the campground and picnic areas. No wood fires. Gas stoves are permitted only in campground and picnic areas. All fireworks are prohibited.

Come Celebrate The Newly Remodeled Colorado National Monument Association Bookstore Saturday & Sunday, October 18 & 19

The National Park Service and the Colorado National Monument Association invite the public to come visit the newly remodeled bookstore in the Monument's visitor center.

The remodel opened up views into the Monument and added new bookstore display areas with many new products.

A weekend long public open house is planned for the Saturday and Sunday, October 18 & 19 from 9am - 5pm each day to celebrate the new bookstore. During the open house everyone will be offered the Colorado National Monument Association 15% membership discount on all purchases during the open house weekend.

climbers on Independence Monument

Each Independence Day, local climbers scale the iconic Independence Monument in Colorado National Monument and raise an American flag on top.  This tradition dates back to early park promoter John Otto, whose route up Independence Monument climbers still follow.
