  • Hiking options are unlimited with over 14,500 acres to explore on Eastern Santa Cruz Island.

  • Great place for swimming, snorkeling, diving, and kayaking. Beach access is available at Scorpion Anchoage, Smugglers Cove and Prisoners Harbor.

  • Scorpion campground is the largest on any of the islands and a great spot for group camping. Shade is available in the campground.

  • Birdwatchers will not want to miss the endemic island scrub-jay—only found on Santa Cruz Island and no other place in the world.

Island deer mouse

Did You Know?
The endemic island deer mouse is the only native terrestrial mammal common to all the Channel Islands and is larger than mainland deer mice. Densities of deer mice on the islands can be greater than anywhere else in the world. This makes you happy if you're an owl, but not if you're a camper.
