Chaco Culture National Historical Park and The Albuquerque Astronomical Society will present the 10th Annual Spring Star Party on Saturday, May 3, 2008, with an evening of spectacular astronomical viewing.  The public is invited to attend the program and view some of the best night skies in New Mexico.

The Star Party will take place at the Chaco Observatory, located behind the visitor center at Chaco Culture National Historical Park. Park staff will provide a solar telescope for viewing the sun during the day.  The Star Party will begin at 8:00pm.

Please bring your folding chairs!

While the rocks at Chaco Canyon are the same type of rocks as found at Mesa Verde National Park, there are no large alcoves at Chaco Canyon. A layer of clay in the sandstone at Mesa Verde causes alcoves to form and that layer is missing in Chaco Canyon. More...
