Illegal dumping in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area has been a chronic problem for many areas of the national park. With spring arriving, park rangers would like to remind the public that the dumping of lawn clippings, woodchips, trash and other debris onto National Park Service grounds is illegal. Not only is the removal of debris costly for the park, but the waste could contain contaminants or exotic plants, which would be invasive to park resources.
 
All waste materials should be discarded in designated trash receptacles outside of the park. Violators of this law will be prosecuted. Park authorities strongly encourage anyone who sights illegal activity in the park to report such activity to park dispatch at 770-952-0378. There is a $200 reward for any information that leads to a conviction.
