Illegal Dumping Not Tolerated in National Parks
Contact: Nancy Poe, Chief of Resource Education, 678-538-1241 (work), 770-318-1209 (cell)
Illegal dumping in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area has been a chronic problem for many areas of the national park. With spring arriving, park rangers would like to remind the public that the dumping of lawn clippings, woodchips, trash and other debris onto National Park Service grounds is illegal. Not only is the removal of debris costly for the park, but the waste could contain contaminants or exotic plants, which would be invasive to park resources.
