Heavy rains have closed one of the hiking areas at the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. The entrance road at Gold Branch, located off of Lower Roswell Road, is heavily eroded due to excessive rainfall over the past two weeks.

Park staff are standing by to re-grade the entrance road once the rains subside. Until then, the Gold Branch area will remain closed.

Did You Know?
Typically, rivers meander and change course over time. However, the Chattahoochee River is one of the oldest and most stable river channels within the United States, since it's essentially "locked" in place, flowing along the Brevard Fault Zone.
