Music Under the Stars 2012 Season

This Sunday, June 10th, starts the 29th annual Music Under the Stars summer concert series at Chamizal National Memorial in partnership with the El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department. The concert series will run every Sunday evening through August 12th, except July 1st because of the special 4th of July concert and fireworks display on Wednesday that week. This week's band is Ivon Ulibarri and Café Mocha from Albuquerque, scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. The concert is free to all and will take place in the Memorial's outdoor amphitheater with open seating on the lawn. Park Rangers will be available before and during the show to share information and activities about the Memorial and the National Park Service.

The National Park Service wishes to remind attendees of several important things for their safety and enjoyment. Once the parking lot is full, the gates to drive into the Memorial will be closed to inbound vehicle traffic and concert-goers must find alternative public parking across the street at Bowie High School and walk into the park. There is also alternate parking available at the El Paso Zoo with a free shuttle bus to and from the Memorial 6:30-10 p.m. for each concert. There will be concessions stands selling a variety of food and beverages, including ice cream, corn, tacos, burritos, turkey legs, beer, wine, and more. Concert goers are also welcome to bring their own picnic dinner or snacks. However, no one is permitted to bring in any outside alcoholic beverages of any kind and glass containers are never allowed in the park for safety. Please remember to drink plenty of water now that summer temperatures have arrived. Also, for their safety and yours, all pets are prohibited during the concert series.
