Capitol Reef Celebrates Harvest Homecoming

"Come join us as we celebrate Harvest Homecoming," says Shirley Torgerson, Executive Director of the  Capitol Reef Natural History Association. Events October 3rd will be held at the Gifford House beginning at 9:00 a.m. and running through 6:00 p.m. There will be live music and cultural demonstrations on quilting, broom making and rug twining. Watch apple pressing and pottery making; learn about our pioneer heritage of cowboy, horse-packing and branding skills. Local historians will share stories from the past. All events are free and open to the public.

10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Listen to local musicians, organized by Jim Robinson

11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Lunch available for purchase

1:00 p.m. Welcome by Superintendent Leah McGinnis

2:00 p.m. Fruita History Talk begins

7:30 p.m. Learn about the Historic Fruita Orchards at the amphitheater adjacent to campground Loop C

"This is a great time to come and visit Capitol Reef," says Superintendent Leah McGinnis. "We hope you will be able to join the celebration." Additional events to look forward to this year include the 3rd Annual Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 5, 2015.
