Harkers Island, NC- Seashore staff are excited about and are preparing for the Pepsi America’s Sail event to be held in Beaufort and Morehead City, North Carolina.

The Beaufort Inlet end of Shackleford Banks will be a prime spot from which to view the “Parade of Sail” and other Pepsi America’s Sail events from June 30 until July 5, the Seashore staff anticipates that Shackleford Banks will be especially busy and congested. To permit maximum accessibility for all visitors, Superintendent Bob Vogel has decided that group events (which normally require a Special Use Permit) will not be authorized on the above dates.

Permits are required for any group event of 25 people or more, and any event sponsored by an organization. Commercial events are not usually authorized.

Superintendent Vogel noted that, “the Fourth of July weekend is normally the peak visitor day for the Seashore, especially on the east end of Shackleford Banks. Due to the numbers of visitors anticipated for this event, the Seashore will bring in additional rangers to assist the park’s law enforcement staff and to ensure visitor safety and protection of resources.

The Seashore wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable event.
