Harkers Island, NC -- The popular Ken Burns’ The National Parks: America’s Best Idea series begins its encore PBS broadcast with the first episode airing on January 27, 2010.  It will then appear on consecutive Wednesdays through March 3.

The series, which premiered last September, was the second most-watched series on PBS over the last decade.  It reached a total audience of 33.4 million viewers and sparked the interests of many Americans to travel and visit their national parks.  In many areas of the country, the series encouraged community members to share their experiences and promoted conservation and preservation of these treasured public lands.

On Wednesdays beginning January 27 and continuing through March 3, 2010, viewers have a second chance to explore the beauty and history of America’s national parks.  For more information, contact the Cape Lookout National Seashore Harkers Island Visitor Center or visit the PBS website @ www.pbs.org.
