Anchorage is available overnight to boaters within the designated area. A permit is required to anchor within the designated area. Lights must be kept to a minimum because bright lights disorient sea turtles and other night time animals.

Buck Island itself is day use only.  There are no facilites and camping is prohibited.

Buck Island Reef National Monument is a critical nesting habitat for the hawksbill, green, and leatherback sea turtles. The monument also serves as a feeding and developmental habitat for young turtles that settle into the reef and sea grass environment after their open sea-phase.
