After the fall foliage season ends and winter begins to set in, especially in the high elevations, most park facilities are closed, reopening in the spring. The road itself is open for travel unless snow and ice create dangerous conditions or where winter construction activities are scheduled. Check the Road Closures section of this website or the Parkway information line at 828 298 0398 for the latest information on road conditions or closures.
