Set in a large grove of cottonwoods, the campground is adjacent to the Rio Grande. Camp store and showers are within walking distance. Elevation Open Details Reservable Campsites 4 group sites are available only by advance reservation. Group campground is walk-in tent camping only. Vehicle parking is restricted to adjacent parking lot. Total overnight occupancy for the Rio Grande Village group campground is 120 persons. All sites have a minimum occupancy of 9 persons. Sites A and B are on the east side of the comfort station. Maximum occupancy for each site is 20 persons. Sites C and D are on the west side of the comfort station. Maximum occupancy for each site is 40 persons. To reserve a group campsite, contact recreation.gov or call 1-877-444-6777. Big Bend National Park cannot make reservations. |
Did You Know?
In 1787, Governor Juan de Ugalde, leading a Spanish military expedition, attacked a band of Mescalero Apaches in a stronghold in the Chisos Mountains. The forty spanish soldiers reportedly killed several hundred Apaches. The battle occured in the area of Lower Juniper Spring.
