The public should be prepared for reduced hours and services provided by Bent’s Old Fort National Historic Site employees due to the sequestration that became effective March 1, 2013. Please check back often for further details or changes.

The park is open every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. Summer hours (June 1 through August 31): 8:00 A.M to 5:30 P.M. Winter hours (September 1 through May 31): 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

Did You Know?
Eight to ten oxen were used to pull the trade wagons from Missouri to Bent's Fort. Oxen were cheaper, less tempermental and tasted better than mules or horses.
