The park's newest partner is having a kick-off event Saturday, March 10th, and all are invited to attend. The Friends of Arches and Canyonlands National Parks: The Bates Wilson Legacy Fund is a non-profit fundraising organization whose mission is to "promote the legacy of Bates Wilson by inspiring stewardship of the natural and cultural treasures, and enriching the visitor experience, in the national parks of southeast Utah." The free event will begin at 4:00pm at La Sal Mountain Viewpoint with a presentation by guest speaker Charles Wilkinson. Back at the Visitor Center until 7:00pm, guests will enjoy light refreshments and a slide show of Bates Wilson's life and work. Park staff will be on hand to answer questions. |
