Field Trips

When planning a field trip to Andersonville:

  • Ranger-led field trips are offered Monday through Friday.
  • Programs are free of charge.
  • A two-week advance notice is required to schedule a program.
  • Ranger-led programs are subject to:
    • Staff availability
    • Optimal weather conditions
    • A completed reservation form submitted at least two weeks before the desired program date
  • Programs are available for groups of up to 55 students per time slot.
  • Tours of the the Historic Prison Site and the National Cemetery require separate reservations and time slots.
  • Museum Activities:
    • Andersonville Prisoner of War Lesson (elementary and middle school students)
    • Museum Scavenger Hunt (9th-12th grade students)

Programs:

  • Ranger-Led Programs: Grades K-12
    The park offers three ranger-led programs for school groups that meet Georgia state standards. Your grade level may determine which program is presented.
  • Self-guiding Field Trips; Grades K - 12

    Self-guided groups must contact the park before arriving by submitting a Field Trip Registration Form. This will allow park staff to schedule your visit and notify you of any issues or conflicts prior to your visit.
