Visitors to Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park will see some changes and improvements being made to one of the park's picnic areas. The picnic area located directly across Highway 31E from the park's main visitor center is being updated and made into a more accessible-friendly site.

The improved picnic area will feature a new pavilion, accessible picnic tables and grills, and animal proof accessible trash and recycling containers. A loop trail will connect the existing picnic area pads to allow for easier access between them for people with mobility impairments.

Work on the updated picnic area will continue through the Spring of 2013.
