Recycling Our Area's Resources (R.O.A.R)

Wrangell-St. Elias, the largest national park in the country, is committed practicing sustainability through recycling and by providing water fill-up stations. Helping to reduce waste directly supports our mission to protect the park’s significant, intact ecosystems and maintain them for visitors today to experience, as well as future generations. Environmental sustainability is an important piece of preserving the wild lands of Wrangell-St. Elias.

Like many places in Alaska recycling services are limited, but not absent. Since 2021, Wrangell St. Elias has partnered with ROAR, a local non-profit, to provide recycling service for visitors in our park. Between our Copper Center’s visitor center complex and our campground on the Nabesna Road, visitors can find various drop-off locations for aluminum cans. Disposing of your trash properly, including recycling cans, can help to keep wildlife safe and protect our park for generations to come.
