President Barack Obama planted a littleleaf linden tree on the North Grounds of the White House near the northeast gate on October 20, 2009. Accompanying him were the Director of the Executive Residence and White House Chief Usher, Stephen Rochon, and Superintendent of the White House Grounds, Dale Haney.
