Outdoor Safety

Summer in Texas can be hot. June, July, and August temperatures can reach well over 100 degrees. Drink plenty of water, wear a hat and sunscreen, and take it easy.

Nature can pose hazards; stay on trails and be aware of fire ants, cacti, armadillo holes, etc.

If you are planning to walk on the nature trails, please wear proper footwear like closed-toe shoes.

While inside the Dig Shelter, please no climbing or sitting on the rails of the elevated walkway.

In the case of hazardous weather, ticket sales may be postponed or suspended to ensure visitor safety.
