Story of the Forest Trail
In an area once cleared of forests and dominated by meadows, the woods have returned in full. Now, a haven to wildlife such as songbirds and white-tailed deer, as well as a calm oasis to hikers, this circuit hike of 1.8 miles offers a gentle grade, gaining a total of 290 feet in elevation. Follow this ever-changing story of the forest to discover how the landscape of Shenandoah has changed since its early days, and how it may continue to change into the future.
