Buffalo Soldier Trip through the Wonderland
In August of 1896, Lieutenant James A. Moss led nine African American soldiers from the 25th Infantry on a bicycle tour from Fort Missoula, Montana, into Yellowstone National Park and back. The goal was to determine if bicycles could replace horses for travel and warfare. This self-paced tour has stops all along the Grand Loop Rd, and even some outside of the park if a road trip through Montana is included in your itinerary. Step into the Wonderland through the eyes of the 25th Infantry!
