The Fort Marion Years

This is a short pictorial tour of the fortress through the lense of photography taken in mostly in the 1800s. We begin with our Civil War. Then work our way through the forced incarceration of many Native Americans. And later move into the earliest years of the NPS. These pictures were taken all during a time when the Fortress was known as Fort Marion. While touring the fortress, try to find these locations. Imagine yourself being the photographer meeting these people of our past.
