Corinth Auto Tour #2 - Siege of Corinth
The Siege of Corinth took place from April 29 - May 30, 1862. General P.G.T. Beauregard's defeated Army of the Mississippi, having been reinforced by Major General Earl Van Dorn's Army of the West, have dug in and prepare to defend Corinth. At the same time, the Union forces now under command of Major General Henry W. Halleck slowly make their way towards their enemy. General Grant would call Corinth "the great strategic position [in] the West between the Tennessee and Mississippi rivers."
