P. King There is plenty to explore on the surface of Timpanogos Cave National Monument! The park’s trails, picnic areas, and Visitor Center offer a wide range of hands-on learning opportunities that all educators can take advantage of. This is also a great option for scout troops, youth programs, and home school groups. Things To DoHike the Cave Access TrailThe Cave Access Trail is 1 ½ -mile-paved trail, which rises 1,092 feet. This is a strenuous trail and is recommended for students in 4-12th grade. Enjoy the expansive views, explore geology, and identify canyon habitats all on one trail! Hike the Canyon Nature TrailThe Canyon Nature Trail connects Riverview and Swinging Bridge picnic areas. This quarter-mile trail is relatively flat and wheelchair accessible. While less strenuous and shorter than the Cave Access Trail, students will still have opportunities to explore geology and habitats within the park. Visit the Visitor CenterLearn about the history, geology, and scientific research at Timpanogos Cave National Monument in the Visitor Center museum! Note that students are required to be accompanied by a chaperone inside the Visitor Center. Attend a Ranger ProgramA ranger may be available to give a 30-55 minute presentation to your class in the Canyon View Picnic Area. Program topics include cave geology, canyon adaptations, and science in the park. Programs are subject to ranger availability and are only available to classes that register in advance. Registration for a Self-Guided Field TripDue to limited parking and materials, all teacher-led field trips are required to register with the park in advance.
