Large group events typically include weddings, family reunions, church or company picnics, ceremonies, special cave tours, and similar situations where a group has, even for a short time, an exclusive use of an area of the park for other than personal recreation and/or limits the ability of the general public to enjoy an area of the park. These events may be allowed within Timpanogos Cave National Monument through a Special Use Permit. Each permit application requires a non-refundable administrative fee of $50.00. The permit includes specific conditions that protect the park’s resources. Please plan carefully and determine whether your gathering will be possible at Timpanogos Cave National Monument. Weddings and group gatherings are generally not permitted in the visitor center, roadside turnouts, parking areas, or the concession area. No sites can be reserved for the exclusive use of your event. Scheduled park programs and activities may be taking place at the same time and in the same general area. Carpooling or shuttling is strongly encouraged, and may be required, as parking space is limited. The maximum size for any ceremony will depend upon the specific location, but our locations preclude groups over 100. For weddings, this includes the wedding party, children, officiant and photographer. Equipment such as tents, floral displays, signs, banners, flags, generators, and amplifiers may not be used in the park. Limited use of tables, chairs, carpets, etc. will be considered on a case by case basis. Facilities for receptions and parties do not exist in the park. Throwing and scattering rice, birdseed, flower petals or other materials is prohibited, as is the release of balloons or birds. The use of candles or other open flames may be restricted depending of risk of wildfire at the time of the event.
