War on the Chesapeake

NPS/Tim Ervin
The Battle of Baltimore and the bombardment of Fort McHenry was the culmination of a nearly two year campaign in the Chesapeake Bay region. The 1813-1814 Chesapeake Campaign brought terror and destruction to small towns such as Havre de Grace and Fredericktown, but culminated in the burning of Washington D.C. and the bombardment of Fort McHenry inspiring the creation of the Star-Spangled Banner.
