Thing to Do
Walk the Trails

NPS Photo
Walk the same trails that Frances Perkins did for a respite and inspiration throughout her extraordinary life and career. The trail start behind the Brick House and provide stunning views of Maine woodlands and prairie as they lead downhill to the banks for the Damariscotta River. Remnants of a 1740s garrison site and the Perkins family’s original homestead and brick-making business are visible throughout the hike, including a foundations of buildings, stone wall, clay pit, and old brickyard.
Always be prepared before heading out. Maine experiences colder temperatures, wind, rain, and snow throughout most of the year. The trails are on property within the Frances Perkins National Monument that is owned by the Frances Perkins Center. Please check their website or contact the Center for additional information.
