Thing to Do
Volunteer to complete the PHT in Northern Virginia

The history of trails in the Unitied States is quite often a lesson in volunteerism. While the NPS is assigned the task of Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail (PHNST) administrator, PHNST segments are managed by various public agencies and private organizations with extensive support from volunteers.
Volunteering takes many forms, from advocacy and planning to trail construction and maintenance. For more information, contact a PHNST management partner or the Potomac Heritage Trail Association.
