Join the National Parks of Boston at Old South Meeting House for compelling reenactments of three historic meetings.
Inspired by real words spoken in historic town meetings in Faneuil Hall and around Boston, hear arguments about destruction of private property, historical memory, and the role of a citizen when facing injustice. Debate with your fellow audience members and vote on the issue. Make your voice be heard!
This program lasts approximately 30 minutes to 45 minutes in Old South Meeting House.
Rocking the Cradle
May 24, 2025 5:30 P.M. at Old South Meeting House
In May of 1854 Federal Marshals arrested Anthony Burns under the 1850 Fugitive Slave Law. Immediately following Burns' arrest, Bostonians gathered at Faneuil Hall to discuss their response. The eyes of the nation were firmly fixed upon Boston.
Join us to recreate this historic meeting on the anniversary of Burns arrest.
