Things To Do At The National Parks of New York Harbor

Pets are allowed at Gateway National Recreation Area in these locations:
- Bay-side beaches at Plum Island and Horseshoe Cove (Sandy Hook) throughout the year.
- Multi-use paths, side walks, and paved roads, unless in an area where pets are not allowed. (Sandy Hook)
Pets must always be on six foot leash. You must also clean up after your pet when visiting the park.
Pets are NOT allowed at these locations:
- African Burial Ground National Monument
- Castle Clinton National Monument
- Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration
- Federal Hall National Memorial
- General Grant National Memorial
- Governors Island National Monument
- Hamilton Grange National Memorial
- Statue of Liberty National Monument
- Stonewall National Monument
- St. Paul's Church National Historic Site
- Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site
Exceptions: Service animals (guide dogs, signal dogs or other animals trained to perform tasks for persons with disabilities) are excepted. Dogs used by law enforcement officers in the performance of official duties are also excepted. Emotional support animals, comfort animals and therapy dogs are not considered service animals under Title II and Title III of the ADA.
