Location
St. Croix River Visitor Center
One of two visitor centers to St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, the St. Croix River Visitor Center provided trip planning information on paddling the rivers of the Namekagon and St. Croix rivers.

A free camping permit is required to camp south of Highway 8 to the Soo-Line High Bridge.

For safety, it's recommended to paddle the rivers during day-light hours.
Accessibility Information
The rivers of the Namekagon and St. Croix consist of rocky and sandy bottoms and large boulders and snags within. River depth varies from ankle deep to 20 to 30 feet deep. The river generally runs as a Class I with a speed of two to three miles an hour. During spring runoff or heavy rain events, the rivers can be Class II or III. Service animals are allowed.
