Before You Go
The Sope Creek multi-use trails are closed to bikes for 24 hours after a rain. Check the current trail condition by texting "Ride" to 770-727-5061 before you get in your car and head to the park.
Where To Go
Cycling is a popular form of recreation in and around the park. All park roads are open to cyclists, but trails are limited to specific areas.
Currently there are 7.11 miles of trails open to cyclists in the park, all within the Cochran Shoals and Palisades units. When combined with surrounding roads, there are options for cyclists of varying ability. All of the trails open to bikes are also shared with pedestrian users, and as such it is important to follow trail etiquette.
The way you ride today shapes bike trail access tomorrow. Do your part to preserve and enhance the sport's access and image by observing the following Rules of the Trail, formulated by the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA). These rules are recognized around the world as the standard code of conduct for mountain bikers.
Dogs are allowed in the park as long as they are kept on a 6' leash. Therefore, please don't bring your dog with you if you will be cycling and be on the lookout for dogs along the trails that may or may not be leashed.
The accessibility of these trails vary.
The Rottenwood Creek Trail is paved and is 10 to 12 feet. wide. From the Paces Mill trailhead to where the trail passes under the I-75 bridge is relatively flat. The trail slopes uphill as it follows Rottenwood Creek to the parks boundary where it joins the Bob Callen Trail.
The Fitness Loop Trail is paved with crushed stone and varies in width from 10 to 20 feet. The trail is relatively flat with a few short steep sections when approaching bridges.
The Sope Creek Multi-use Trail is designed for mountain bikes and has a dirt or stone surface with widths no more than 5 feet. The trail undulates with sections that may not be accessible.
