Essential Question

What makes a clean watershed? What kind of animals live here? How does this affect local communities? Discover with activities as we bring the magic of underwater Shenandoah to your classroom! This program is recommended for 6th grade and can be adjusted. Recommended timeframe is 45 minutes.

Objective

• Students will understand the definition of a watershed and that Virginia is composed of multiple watershed systems.

• Students will understand that natural processes, human activities, biotic factors, and abiotic factors affect the health of a watershed system.

• Students will investigate how weather and human usage affect freshwater resources, including water locations, quality, and supply.

• Students will compare integers using mathematical symbols (<, >, =).
