Using replicas of common items, students try to identify the objects and determine the purpose. Next the group sorts the objects into those used long ago, those used in present day, and those used in both eras. Teacher may use twine to make a large Venn diagram on the ground for sorting. Teacher may also prompt students to discuss how people used the items to meet wants and needs.
