"Read with a Ranger - Fry Bread" is a 45 minute program on-site at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in Eunice, Louisiana. Students will listen to a park ranger read the book Fry Bread, A Native American Family Story. They'll learn about Native American traditions in Louisiana, and they'll make the story come to life through making a dough in our demonstration kitchen.
Through this education program, students will discuss culture and traditions. They'll learn and practice measuring ingredients while making salt dough ornaments. Students will learn about Chitimacha Tribe basket designs by stamping them into the ornaments.
What role does food have in our families? In our community? In our culture? Students will enjoy a story and activity led by a park ranger all about this.
To make a reservation, call (337) 457-8499 or email the park.
