Join us as we explore Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve
to learn more about the process of ecological succession! Through this distance learning program, students will learn how land can progress through a variety of ecological conditions in response to disturbance and take a closer look at how Glacier Bay has changed in the years following the retreat of glaciers.
Format

The ranger will introduce a brief history of Glacier Bay National Park.

Students will learn about how ecosystems progress through distinct successional stages.

Students will observe a variety of plants and animals characteristic of different successional stages.
Objectives
By the end of the program, students will be able to:

Describe ecological succession.

Identify one species of early, mid, and late successional plant.

List three examples of natural or human-caused ecological disturbance.

How to Participate
Scheduling and Registration:
The Glacier Bay Education Team offers programs in January and February each year. Rangers start taking requests on December 1st and will process requests in the order in which they are received.
There are two ways to register:

- Or, register via the Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration website.
