Background

This virtual field trip distance learning program was created by Fort Vancouver National Historic Site as a way to allow students and teachers to access the site's resources from afar or while implementing remote learning. The national park has created this guide and supplemental resources as a way for educators to include the experience of learning about Fort Vancouver in their curriculum without requiring an on-site visit.

Learning about Fort Vancouver From a Distance

This virtual field trip distance learning program contains short videos produced by the National Park Service featuring volunteers and national park rangers. This program also includes a series of activities, readings, and discussion ideas designed for upper-elementary students.

Videos, readings, and discussion questions can be found on the Fort Vancouver National Park Service website. By filling out the form linked below, educators will receive a Teachers' Guide to this distance learning program, as well as PDFs of the activities referenced in the program.

How to Use This Resource

Please contact us using the form below to receive a Teachers' Guide and activities for students. This Teacher’s Guide discusses how to use the program with your class, how the content aligns with Washington State educational standards, and information on how to schedule a live, virtual question-and-answer session with a national park ranger.

We ask that each teacher or educator who uses this distance learning program complete the form linked below. Collecting an accurate number of students and educators who are using this resource allows us to better record its use and provide more opportunities like this one in the future.
