Objective

Students will create a critter based on adaptations needed to survive in the ocean.

Materials

Lesson Hook/Preview

Imagine an animal who can survive the challenges of the shoreline. Answer these questions and draw a picture of your animal in its habitat.

Answer in a complete sentence:

What does your animal eat? How does it get its food?

Vocabulary

Adaptation: the way a living thing changes over time to better survive in a specific location. The super powers that plants and animals use to keep themselves alive. For instance, fur to keep an animal warm in the winter, or wings to fly away from predators. 

Predator: an animal that naturally preys on other animals. An animal that will eat other animals.
