This sequence of programs is offered in the spring season. The three programs are designed to model the Life Science standard for interdependent relationships by grade level.

Kindergarten answers the questions, Where do animals live and why do they live there? Visual, auditory and tactile activities lead to an understanding of what plants and animals including humans need to survive.

First grade discovers some ways plants and animals meet their needs. They look for the similarities and differences between plant and animal parents and their children. Activities give students an opportunity to understand how body structure and behavior help animals and plants survive.

In second grade, students investigate what plants need to grow. They also learn how plants depend on animals for pollination and seed dispersal. The diversity of life in different habitats is compared as teams work together to do a species inventory.

An exploratory walk is part of each program. The focus is on sensory experiences as the group slowly and quietly moves through the forest, by the stream and in an open area. We never know what wonderful things we will find!
