NPS

We aren't the only ones who love our parks. The National Park Service is supported by a large community of partners who help support these special places.

Among these organizations are philanthropic partners, commonly called friends groups, who provide support to parks and programs in a variety of ways, from fundraising and recruiting volunteers, to donating goods of various kinds and providing educational programming. More often than not, friends groups focus their support on a single park or region. You can see if your park has a dedicated friends group by searching the directory below.

The National Park Service also receives support from cooperating associations whose primary purpose is to provide educational products and services through retail sales in park bookstores. Though it’s not their main role, cooperating associations are also authorized to fundraise on NPS’s behalf. Any funds raised by cooperating associations are restricted to supporting “educational, scientific, historical and interpretive activities” of the NPS.

Together, these partners help protect parks and enhance the experience for millions of people every year. Explore the directory below to find the organizations that help make your park possible.

(Please note: Below is a directory solely of partners that are authorized to fundraise on NPS's behalf. It does not reflect the totality of the NPS partnership landscape, which can include other types of relationships with community organizations, youth organizations, service corps, land trusts, Tribes, educational organizations, local and state government entities, other federal agencies, and more.)

This includes how much they spent on programs each year—both through grants to parks and by running their own park or mission-related programs. Some fields might be blank, depending on what information was available from the IRS when the directory was last updated.

Partnerships encourage involvement; through involvement there is increased awareness; and through awareness there is stewardship.
