The Award for Excellence in National Park Service Archeology

Thousands of years of human history are preserved and studied in archeology sites in national parks by National Park Service archeologists and research partners.

The Award for Excellence in National Park Service Archeology recognizes the accomplishments of National Park Service staff and partner researchers for outstanding contributions in National Park System sites. This work may include excavation, analysis, symposia, publications, outreach, or collaboration.

Awards Name

The John L. Cotter Award for Excellence in National Park Service Archeology was renamed to the Award for Excellence in National Park Service Archeology in 2023.
