This nomination was submitted by the Seminole Tribe of Florida for its significance to the Tribe as a symbol of its struggle to retain acknowledgement of Tribal sovereignty. The barn was constructed as part of a New Deal program to the bolster Tribal economy through their stock raising efforts. The listing of the barn has led to the rehabilitation of the barn as a centerpiece of Tribal heritage efforts.
