The Aiken County Hospital is an intact example of a Depression-era, Public Works Administration-funded hospital. The buildings exemplify architect Willis Irvin’s mastery of the Colonial Revival style and represent advances in Aiken-area healthcare as well as the area’s growth from a winter resort to a thriving municipality.
