As documented in the nomination, this cemetery is the only permanent physical reminder of the McIntosh County Jewish farming community, the largest Jewish settlement in North Dakota. North Dakota had the fourth largest number of homesteaders of any state in the country.

The property is associated with European American settlement in the Piney Woods region of Mississippi, which grew along with an expanded transportation network. The dogtrot style log house was built with logs cut from the property and is typical of first generation dwellings in the area.
