Hot Springs

Who doesn't imagine dipping their toes in mother nature's bathtub? Well, WATCH OUT!! Many hot springs in the National Park Service are off limits to visitors or can be observed only from a distance. This is for your safety, but also to protect these often fragile ecosystems, some of which have special soils or pH balances that can be destroyed for generations by one wrong step or the detergent on your clothing.

For your safety and others and to protect these precious resources, respect all posted information and warning signs about geothermal features in the National Park Service.

Here are a few hot springs in the National Park Service that are open to the public. As always, please contact the local park unit to learn site-specific rules to keep you and the hot spring safe for years to come.
